half way through the season

Well, what can i say. This season started off as one that felt it could be special. Then, came Boise State. The game left a sour taste in our mouths, but also had us saying wow about what we saw in the fourth quarter. To see a freshman qb come in, and pick apart a team like that was something oregon fans had never witnessed. The USC game definitely had us sour as did the cal game. Guess we can see what happens

Update: Post Washington game

Im finally back after taking a break from the blog to search for my inner self...okay thats not true. I got preoccupied with other commitments and tailgating. I started tailgating at the Masonic Lodge on friday and lets say it was awesome. I enjoyed talking with other duck fans, smoking cigars with other duck fans, watching games with other duck fans and more importantly drinking beer with other duck fans. Its always fun when you start hanging out with fellow duck fans 10 hours before kickoff. I also probably gained a million pounds from having no breakfast and only consuming beer and hotdogs until kick off, but it was FUN! I made alot of new friends tailgating. Then came the game. Did I mention I had a blast tailgating? The game was set up to be a good one. I had my parents and my little sister with me at the game which was a first for our family. We had 2 husky fans in front of us who got not only a ton of shit from me and my father, but my mom and little sister were getting in on it. As in the words of Ice Cube, it was truely a good day.

P.S. I will be tailgating for the UCLA game and feel free to drop by the masonic parking lot to hang out. This time I will be more prepared and have a duck tent and flag raised.

Is It Sad? Or Is It Good???

So the news on Costa today was not good. He reinjured his acl/mcl and will need surgery. I was wrong. I thought it was a sprain but it turns out to be a tear of some sort. I feel bad for the guy. He was so close, and lost it...again. BUT I feel completely comfortable with roper. Let us remember that Roper has played in more games than Costa and has started, Costa has not. Not to say I dont think Nate Costa would have been effective, but we know what Roper can do. And any time you have your 2nd stringer bringing up question marks with the coach on who should start, you know the kid can play. I am still expecting a good game on saturday and also expect a win. Oh yeah, its almost saturday :)

P.S. 5 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Costa

Well, hate to say this, Nate Costa has been hurt. BUT, it is not official yet. All we know is that Costa felt a "tweak" in his knee and continued to practice. Team officials said he will be getting an M.R.I. and the doctor that repaired his knee will be the final judge on what the M.R.I. tells them. This could possibly be just a bunch of old paranoid duck fans getting their feathers ruffled, or this could be potentially serious. In my opinion I think that he may have felt a "tweak" in his knee, and the ducks are just being cautious about it. From what I have gathered when you have had surgery on a knee injury you feel scar tissue and other weird tweaks and cracks in your repaired knee. So for all we know this could be nothing more than a false alarm. I am not assuming the worse because there is no need to. I am just going to think that there is nothing until I hear otherwise. We have a talented quarterback corp and I am think they have the capability of being good also.

On another note, Rob Moseley did an interview with the guy who is an equipment manager. Really cool video, check it out:http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1407952690/bctid1738801170

What Makes A Legend??

There have been many Oregon Duck legends. Names such as Kenny Wheaton, Joey Harrington and even recently Dennis Dixon. Kenny Wheaton was forever legendified with his "Kenny Wheaton is going to score!" Joey Harrington became a Duck legend with his 25-3 record and 3-0 bowl record. Dennis Dixon became a legend in many aspects. He had the fake statue of liberty, his defeats over Oklahoma, USC and ASU. Being a Heisman contender and "could of been" winner also added to it. But I think the biggest thing that added to it was his Bo Jackson mystique. He had so much going for him last year until he got injured. A National Championship and Heisman were his to lose, and sadly he lost them. But not because he had a complete collapse like the last year, because of an untimely injury. What makes a legend is what surrounds the person. Joey Harrington lost 1 game for every 8.5 games he won. Kenny Wheaton defeated the #3 Huskies. Dennis Dixon, Dixon had it all, everything and anything. His play, his attitude and love for the game will never be forgotten. I heard a line in movie that will forever stick with me when I think of these players. Its from a childhood movie I loved watching, The Sandlot. Babe Ruth is telling Benny he needs to face the beast, and he says to him: " Hero's get remembered, but Legends never die."

Autzen Stadium Gets A Lil Love

Espn wrote an article on stadiums across the country. Stadiums that on Saturday become living hell for the oposing team. "That is the loudest stadium I have played in."-Lloyd Carr "Autzen Stadium is the loudest stadium per person!"-Lee Corso "The Swamp, The Shoe, Rocky Top, The Big House dont have shit on Autzen!!"-Me and other duck fans. Yes I think that the city of Eugene becomes an electric city on gameday. I'll never forget one of my first games I went to I was asking my dad questions about Autzen. He says:" you wanna see a preview? Stick my duck hat out the window." I stuck it out as we were going down franklin blvd and almost everyone started yelling and honking there horns. Right then, I fell in love. Being a die hard Raiders fan your almost compelled to root for The Ducks. When your part of the greatest fan base in the NFL you almost have to be a Duck fan. You realize there isn't any other fan base you would want to be part of. Also I was born and raised in Eugene so its been there since birth. The one thing I do know is any opposing teams better get ready for absolute hell this year from the fans. We are coming off a year that left our fans begging for more, and some huge wins over ASU and USC. We as Duck fans are ready for another year and know that we need to bring our voices to scream our freaking heads off. Im ready, are you??

On another note, Rob Moseley did an article on the daily doubles and added a video of players getting in the ice baths. Very funny if you ask me. Heres that also.

Very Quiet

Well, there hasn't been too much news to report on. All in all the team looks to be coming together fairly well. Costa has looked fairly well. I see him taking huge leaps and bounds these next couple weeks and see him solidifying himself as the oregon starter this next week. With how much Chip Kelly likes him there must be something he knows we dont. Mind you he was ranting and raving about Dennis Dixon last year and many duck fans wanted Costa over him(yes they all took it back after USC) Dre Crenshaw hurt his ankle today and Bellotti said there are no torn ligaments(but that doesnt mean there aren't breaks) Sorry about not having too much stuff to talk about. I have been very busy and attended the Raider Nation Celebration. It was a blast. Jamarcus has the best arm I have ever, ever, ever seen. Darren Mcfadden, sorry to say, looks like he was the BEST running back last year. No offense to my boy J Stew, Mcfadden is just special. Not saying Stewart isn't, he just isn't Mcfadden. Stewart will end up being a Larry Johnson back, and I see Mcfadden being a Ladainian Tomlinson kind of back. But who knows, could be the other way. Regardless, there both my boys. Anyways I'll probably get an ear full from benny on this one but its just the truth. I think they are both in for hell of careers. Also, did I mention Jamarcus's arm??

In other news, Dennis Dixon looked awesome in his preseason game. He didnt come out looking like a typical rookie. Yes it was preseason, but he did look comfortable.

Tomorrow I will be more up on the blog seeing I am working at the mattress store. Anyways stay classy Oregon fans, and Go Ducks.
