Is It Sad? Or Is It Good???

So the news on Costa today was not good. He reinjured his acl/mcl and will need surgery. I was wrong. I thought it was a sprain but it turns out to be a tear of some sort. I feel bad for the guy. He was so close, and lost it...again. BUT I feel completely comfortable with roper. Let us remember that Roper has played in more games than Costa and has started, Costa has not. Not to say I dont think Nate Costa would have been effective, but we know what Roper can do. And any time you have your 2nd stringer bringing up question marks with the coach on who should start, you know the kid can play. I am still expecting a good game on saturday and also expect a win. Oh yeah, its almost saturday :)

P.S. 5 more days!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Costa

Well, hate to say this, Nate Costa has been hurt. BUT, it is not official yet. All we know is that Costa felt a "tweak" in his knee and continued to practice. Team officials said he will be getting an M.R.I. and the doctor that repaired his knee will be the final judge on what the M.R.I. tells them. This could possibly be just a bunch of old paranoid duck fans getting their feathers ruffled, or this could be potentially serious. In my opinion I think that he may have felt a "tweak" in his knee, and the ducks are just being cautious about it. From what I have gathered when you have had surgery on a knee injury you feel scar tissue and other weird tweaks and cracks in your repaired knee. So for all we know this could be nothing more than a false alarm. I am not assuming the worse because there is no need to. I am just going to think that there is nothing until I hear otherwise. We have a talented quarterback corp and I am think they have the capability of being good also.

On another note, Rob Moseley did an interview with the guy who is an equipment manager. Really cool video, check it out:http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1407952690/bctid1738801170

What Makes A Legend??

There have been many Oregon Duck legends. Names such as Kenny Wheaton, Joey Harrington and even recently Dennis Dixon. Kenny Wheaton was forever legendified with his "Kenny Wheaton is going to score!" Joey Harrington became a Duck legend with his 25-3 record and 3-0 bowl record. Dennis Dixon became a legend in many aspects. He had the fake statue of liberty, his defeats over Oklahoma, USC and ASU. Being a Heisman contender and "could of been" winner also added to it. But I think the biggest thing that added to it was his Bo Jackson mystique. He had so much going for him last year until he got injured. A National Championship and Heisman were his to lose, and sadly he lost them. But not because he had a complete collapse like the last year, because of an untimely injury. What makes a legend is what surrounds the person. Joey Harrington lost 1 game for every 8.5 games he won. Kenny Wheaton defeated the #3 Huskies. Dennis Dixon, Dixon had it all, everything and anything. His play, his attitude and love for the game will never be forgotten. I heard a line in movie that will forever stick with me when I think of these players. Its from a childhood movie I loved watching, The Sandlot. Babe Ruth is telling Benny he needs to face the beast, and he says to him: " Hero's get remembered, but Legends never die."

Autzen Stadium Gets A Lil Love

Espn wrote an article on stadiums across the country. Stadiums that on Saturday become living hell for the oposing team. "That is the loudest stadium I have played in."-Lloyd Carr "Autzen Stadium is the loudest stadium per person!"-Lee Corso "The Swamp, The Shoe, Rocky Top, The Big House dont have shit on Autzen!!"-Me and other duck fans. Yes I think that the city of Eugene becomes an electric city on gameday. I'll never forget one of my first games I went to I was asking my dad questions about Autzen. He says:" you wanna see a preview? Stick my duck hat out the window." I stuck it out as we were going down franklin blvd and almost everyone started yelling and honking there horns. Right then, I fell in love. Being a die hard Raiders fan your almost compelled to root for The Ducks. When your part of the greatest fan base in the NFL you almost have to be a Duck fan. You realize there isn't any other fan base you would want to be part of. Also I was born and raised in Eugene so its been there since birth. The one thing I do know is any opposing teams better get ready for absolute hell this year from the fans. We are coming off a year that left our fans begging for more, and some huge wins over ASU and USC. We as Duck fans are ready for another year and know that we need to bring our voices to scream our freaking heads off. Im ready, are you??

On another note, Rob Moseley did an article on the daily doubles and added a video of players getting in the ice baths. Very funny if you ask me. Heres that also.

Very Quiet

Well, there hasn't been too much news to report on. All in all the team looks to be coming together fairly well. Costa has looked fairly well. I see him taking huge leaps and bounds these next couple weeks and see him solidifying himself as the oregon starter this next week. With how much Chip Kelly likes him there must be something he knows we dont. Mind you he was ranting and raving about Dennis Dixon last year and many duck fans wanted Costa over him(yes they all took it back after USC) Dre Crenshaw hurt his ankle today and Bellotti said there are no torn ligaments(but that doesnt mean there aren't breaks) Sorry about not having too much stuff to talk about. I have been very busy and attended the Raider Nation Celebration. It was a blast. Jamarcus has the best arm I have ever, ever, ever seen. Darren Mcfadden, sorry to say, looks like he was the BEST running back last year. No offense to my boy J Stew, Mcfadden is just special. Not saying Stewart isn't, he just isn't Mcfadden. Stewart will end up being a Larry Johnson back, and I see Mcfadden being a Ladainian Tomlinson kind of back. But who knows, could be the other way. Regardless, there both my boys. Anyways I'll probably get an ear full from benny on this one but its just the truth. I think they are both in for hell of careers. Also, did I mention Jamarcus's arm??

In other news, Dennis Dixon looked awesome in his preseason game. He didnt come out looking like a typical rookie. Yes it was preseason, but he did look comfortable.

Tomorrow I will be more up on the blog seeing I am working at the mattress store. Anyways stay classy Oregon fans, and Go Ducks.

More News From A Day Of Doubles

Today was officially the first day of daily doubles. Who else showed up finally but Jamere Holland. He said his knee feels fine and he feels its more of a mental thing than anything else. Heres a link to Mr. Moseley's story on full pads yesterdayhttp://www.registerguard.com/csp/cms/sites/dt.cms.support.viewStory.cls?cid=126568&sid=21&fid=1. Nate Costa spoke and said he feels the team is doing better and fairly well compared to recent camps. He also noted that the team is actually looking at him as a leader versus just a sophmore quarterback. He said that they transitioned well from helmets, to shells, to pads and said that while they definitely could have been better, he wasnt too disappointed. He said they looked fair and will be ready in 21 days. Mr. P.Chung said that the secondary isnt elite...yet. Yes he said not yet. But he said they have some things to work on, and they WILL be ready come August 30th. Now if that doesnt get you pumped up, maybe you should rethink your alliances. I am more than prepared for an amazing year of duck football, while being cautious. I remember the year of Kellen Clemens horrific junior year in which they should have been good, but under performed. But I dont think that will happen this year. Chip Kelly will be on it like Weezy is on 3 peat, and Allioti will have the defense bringing back memories of a once feared Gang Green. People, I preach to you from my soap box; I saw the light, and the light is ahead. Duck football is coming back to the Joey Heisman years. Lets start buying are yellow and green shirts and shouting random Go Ducks while walking down campus. If your walking down the street and see a fan in a duck shirt, pat him on the back and say: Amen. Lol alright Im getting a little bit out of hand. Im just excited. Is it August 30th yet??

Good Morning

"It has not yet dawned on the duck nation, to be a duck is to feel unappreciated, to fly under the radar of the california teams, to live in the shadow the USC's and Cal's."- Chris Fowler
My question is do we really live in a shadow?? Sure we dont get as much media attention as some SEC teams and Ohio State but still, for an up and coming program who is not elite, yet, we sure do get national attention. Last year we were 3 games away from becoming and "elite" team. Now my other question is what is an elite team? I would say USC, THE OHIO STATE,FLORIDA,LSU,MICHIGAN,MIAMI,TEXAS,OKLAHOMA, and PENN STATE. When I think of elite teams I think of teams that year in, and year out are always looking at national title implications. I think that Michigan, Miami, and Penn State were elite, but not sure if they will be in 5 years. But in my honest opinion those 3 schools will return to greatness...shortly. I think you then have 4 star programs, or a notch below the elite. These teams would be: Virginia Tech, Clemson, Oregon, Mizzou, Florida State, Wisconsin, Cal, ASU, Texas Tech, South Carolina, and West Virginia. They are teams that year in and year out that have a chance to be special, but sometimes dont fulfill it. Im not sure where I would place West Virginia. They have been good the last 4 years but have still failed to reach a BCS championship. They choked bad last year and we'll have to see how they do this year. After that, its fair game. All the other teams are sort of on an equal level. The beavers I would say may be above the teams they are catagorized with, but have yet to get high in the polls or shine on a national spotlight. BUT they have beaten a top 3 team the last 2 years, will they make it 3 this year? We'll see. Anyways its too early to have any news on the ducks. So I will keep you updated throughout the day. GO DUCKS and Huck The Fuskies im out

News

Where to begin? Today at USC's practice starting quarterback Mark "the dirty" Sanchez dislocated his knee during drills. It is not sure how long he will be out and how this will affect a very talented USC team. Also, Jake Locker pulled his hamstring today and will have an MRI soon to see how severe it is. Hamstrings are a lingering injury so it may make him less effective early on. Oregon wore full pads today and Bellotti said it was "fair at best." He said they did not practice like a top 20 team. But that is not hard to do when it is your first full pads day of practice. The ducks were also marked up by ESPN as the fastest team in the NCAA as in terms of scoring and quick tempo. Also, Ted Miller wrote a best/worse case scenario for pac-10 teams. Please, read the bad part first or it will put a damper on the whole article.http://myespn.go.com/blogs/pac10/0-1-152/Best-case-Worst-case--Oregon.html
The WSU game has been picked up by fox sports so you will be able to watch that there. Nothing to amazing going on as were only 21 days til kickoff. Im sure once kickoff begins stories will be heating up. Go Ducks and Huck the Fuskies, Im out!

Scoreboard

Well, the sick scoreboard is finally up. Yes I said sick. This thing is amazing in my honest opinion. Here is a link to a video the register guard did so we duck fans could see what it looks like. All I can say is incredible!! I have been to pro venues and nothing even compares to this!! Check it out! http://link.brightcove.com/services/link/bcpid1407952690/bctid1715729037

All Quiet On The Northern Front...Sort Of

Today has been relatively quiet. One news is Brandon Baker, walk on and a Sheldon graduate has left due to unknown reasons. He has been replaced by William Taylor who is also a walk on at Free Safety and saw a little bit of action against OSU and USF. Also Mr. Mike "The Stash" Bellotti was named number 3 coach in the pac 10 according to Ted Miller of ESPN.http://myespn.go.com/blogs/pac10/0-1-141/Pac-10-coaching-rankings--Carroll-on-top.html Looks like Cole Linehan and Ra'Shon Harris will hold down the middle of the deffensive line. Also Rob Moseley a writer for the Register Guard and expert blogger for them wrote a piece on Chris Harper.http://www.registerguard.com/csp/cms/sites/dt.cms.support.viewStory.cls?cid=126243&sid=21&fid=1 Harper hopes to resume throwing by the end of the week. From what I have read it sounds like Costa is proving the coaches right. I hope to have seperation from the rest of the pack by one of the QB's by the end of next week. I think it would benefit the team more to know who they will be protecting and who will be leading them on to victories. Sounds like the knee is not an issue and he is 100%. I will be updating on further duck information later tonight once I am off work and at home.

Practice Has Started

Practice has finally started and will be on day 3 today. Costa has been the number one and Roper the number two. Harper has been having shoulder problems. The practice times for the rest of the week will be: Veterans at 12:15 and Newcomers at 4:30. Friday will be at 12:40 for the first day of pads. Saturday will be a daily double with shells at 10:30 and pads at 5. Im finally heading off to bed with an epic day behind me that consisted of Work, Work, Duck Football, Work and then Dark Knight( strongly recommended). So i will leave you with this video to enjoy. Here you go:

Reliving The Past Part 2: Oregon Vs Michigan

I can honestly say I knew we were going to kill michigan. My parents were trying to convince me Michigan was going to be pissed and would probably obliterate U of O. The reason I knew Oregon would win is because Michigan was 0-4 going into that game against teams with a spread offense. Photobucket Dennis Dixon went nuts against Michigan finishing 16/25 292 yards and 3 touchdowns and 76 yards on ground and another touchdown rushing. The one rushing touchdown, defined the game. The fake statue of liberty will forever be on the tron during the highlight video. It also solidified Chip Kelly in the hearts of duck fans with his creativity.Photobucket I remember as soon as the game was done Greise was saying how Dixon would be his vote for Heisman and compared him to Vince Young. At the time I thought " great, dont jinx him" The game was great. Oregon brought "the hammer" and owned michigan. Always a great day in my book.

Good Sunday Everyone

Im back everyone after a long and thoughtful weekend I am back to my duck writing ways. Some news to know is fall camp starts tomorrow. Not among them tomorrow will be Justin Thompson. 5 star DT who has been having grade problems. Also RUXXE has trademarked a new name for Autzen; The House of Loud. I personally enjoy the name Autzen Zoo, but House of Loud isnt bad also. And finally, i have uploaded some before and after pics of the old and new scoreboard. So enjoy them:

To Clear Some Things Up

First of all the reason i made this blog was for my oregon buddies in eugene who have a life(unlike me who checks blogs all day on my cell phone) to read. So they could get important information and get a good laugh. I didnt put this oregon blog for all the fans who check blogs every waking minute so they could tell me this "sucks" and is completely "ridiculous" and "assnine". Yes i deleted your stupid posts because i say to heck with the haters. I am having fun doing this. The other thing. I got told that i give oregon fans a "bad name" because i love the OSU Oregon rivalry and Yes, i hate the beavers. Sorry i dont root for them when their not playing the ducks. They are not my team, the ducks are, sorry. The thing that gives oregon fans bad names is people who give other fans shit because they are passionate about their team and not about the state of oregons football teams. Yes i understand i was rippin on osu. BUT I DONT CARE!!! I rep the ducks no one else. I know for a fact when you are with your duck buddies and they say: "I hate the beavs" You are immediately agreeing with them and in the back of your mind saying:" i kinda like em though". Your a wuss, and im sorry your a wussy Oregon fan. I have liked the ducks since me and my dad rejoiced in the Nissan Quest over a win in the Vegas Bowl. I liked the ducks when they were so bad you could get tickets for freakin cheap right before the game. I wont ever rep anyone else. I am very aggrivated and upset about the "hate post's" i have recieve. If you do not like my blog feel free to piss off. Yes i am posting an angry post and dont really give a rip if you dont like it. This is mine, not yours. So i am sorry if i step on any toes passing through checking this out. If you are offended, good, because i am most likely talking about you. And i am not hating on anyone. If you are a duck fan, i love you. I am just saying dont hate on me because i hate the beavers. We both like the same team, we dont need haters within the duck family. Thanks, Mr. Powers

Hated On

There was an article on espn called most hated teams by conference. For the Pac was USC, BUT they also did a small thing on Oregon being a hated on team in the Pac-10. I started to realize that the only reason people hate on us, is because they are jealous. Not to sound like a pompous Oregon fan, but come on, really?? The only reason people hate is because they are 1. beaver fans, or 2. jealous. In all honesty i think beaver fans are jealous and insecure about their program. The ducks have the best facilities in the nation. That is probably the main reason people hate. Also, they have one important man, Phil Knight. What i find funny is people who will hate on oregon always bring up the jerseys. Come on, I know your jealous, really i know you love them and want the diamond plating on your orange and black since its a "redneck thing." There is my explanation for why were hated on. And we dont have on the beavers cuz were jealous, we hate on the beavers cuz they suck. Its as simple as that.
